Butterball

I was able to extricate myself from life’s demands for a while yesterday, and stumbled upon a half-finished drawing that I started years ago. I had no intentions of working on it, but an area of the sketch beckoned so I touched it up, which led to other touchups…and after all those revisions, it only made sense to refine it with a little inking, and then…you get the idea.

One of the many things I like about drawing a REALLY big woman is the challenge of trying to imagine how all of that flesh might pile up. It’s somewhat like trying to solve the “riddle of fat”, as it’s very easy to make things look unbelievable, but hard to make them seem remotely real. In an ideal world, I’d have a live model available for such endeavors – and for endeavors much more pleasant than drawing – but biology has prohibited such realizations. Still, it’s fun to imagine.

Regardless of the impetus, here’s a not-so-little ditty that was rolling around in the archives and happened to spill out of my brain. There’s no text because none was in the spillage, so feel free to “letter it up” per your own desires.
